The moment many "How I Met Your Mother" fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. The much anticipated - and long overdue - spin-off for the series, "How I Met Your Dad," is being reconsidered, again. However, it seems like there might be a few changes in the upcoming television show.
According to the report from Variety, the show is now going to be called "How I Met Your Father," instead of Dad, which was already pitched in 2014 right after the final season run of "How I Met Your Mother." The series is going to be penned by "This Is Us" writers, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger.
Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the two original creators of the show, will not, unfortunately, return to pen the supposed spin-off. They will, however, serve as the series' executive producers along with Aptaker and Berger, Variety continued to note.
Is "How I Met Your Father" a direct spin-off to the original CBS show?
Deadline has reported that the upcoming series will not come out as a traditional spin-off for "How I Met Your Mother." Instead, it is said that it will only incorporate the way the lead star - the mother - tells the story on how he met the father of her child/children.
Unfortunately, there is still no update for the series' network. Deadline noted that the show does not necessarily have to land on CBS - just like "How I Met Your Mother." With that said, it seems like every other network will have a chance to take on the project.
"How I Met Your Father" release date
Variety reports that the script is still being worked on, and being pitched around the networks in the region. If everything goes as planned, "How I Met Your Father" might get a release date time frame probably sometime next year.
It is important to take note that this has yet to be confirmed. With that said, it's best for the fans to keep an open mind for the time being.
