Games developer Activision seems to be in quite a giving mood as it has recently announced a number of free updates and bonuses coming for players of its highly popular first person shooter remaster "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare" this holiday season. The developer announced that they will be rolling out different content and freebies throughout the month which will include six new maps, holiday-themed changes, new game modes and their new "12 Days of Winter" holiday event.

The original 2007 shooter video game came with 16 total maps, but the remastered version that was released just last month only came with 10. Now, Activision is set to make up the difference by releasing the last 6 maps, which all have been revamped to feature high-definition textures and graphics to take advantage of the new generation gaming systems.

Activision announced that they will be rolling out the next batch of maps in an update that will go live this week on Tuesday, Dec. 13. The maps will include the revamped versions of "The Bloc," "Countdown," "Pipeline," "Showdown," "Strike" and "Wet Work."

Aside from the revamped classic "Modern Warfare" maps, players will also be getting a free update this week that will include two new game modes, namely "Hardpoint" and "Gun Game." Next week on Dec. 20, players will then be treated to an update that will transform the remastered "Winter Crash" campaign map into a Christmas-themed wonderland.

The festive redecorations will also extend to the game's "Genesis" map, called the "Genesis Holiday" map, which will also be getting the Christmas treatment. To further emphasize the festive mood, a 24/7 Genesis Holiday playlist will also become available.

As an added incentive, players who will be participating in Activision's "12 Days of Winter" event will be getting addition in-game freebies and bonuses starting on Dec. 21 up to Jan. 1, 2017. "Modern Warfare Remastered" was released alongside "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" last month on Nov. 4, for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC.
