Asus has released the latest devices on their Zenfone line, but because of their several offerings, deciding on a perfect device can be a bit confusing. Which phone is the best for your needs? Here is a comparison of three of the Zenfone devices, namely Laser, Ultra, and Deluxe.

In terms of the displays, all of the devices feature a Full-HD 1920x1080 pixel display, albeit with different screen sizes:

  • Zenfone 3 Laser: 5.5-inch IPS display (401ppi pixel density)
  • Zenfone 3 Deluxe: 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display (386ppi pixel density)
  • Zenfone 3 Ultra: 6.8-inch IPS display (324ppi pixel density)

It is worth noting that the Zenfone 3 Ultra has a screen that is almost 7 inches in size and is easily comparable to a size of a small tablet; hence, one-handed usage can be extremely difficult.

The Zenfone 3 Laser is regarded as a mid-range device with included Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. The Ultra, on the other hand has a Snapdragon 652, while the Deluxe has the flagship Snapdragon 820/821 processor.

Both Laser and Ultra are shipped with 4GB of RAM (Laser's 32GB variant only has 2GB of RAM, however), while the Deluxe can have as high as 6GB of RAM.

The Laser also features a 13-megapixel rear camera, in comparison to the Deluxe and Ultra's 23-megapixel camera. All devices have an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls.

The Laser and Ultra is available in 32 or 64 GB configurations, with an option for 128 GB for the Ultra. The Deluxe variant is only available in 64, 128 or 256 GB configurations. All devices are capable of providing external storage via microSD with support for up to 256 GB.

USB Type-C reversible ports and connectors are only available for the Ultra and Deluxe, with the latter the only device to support USB 3.0 speeds. The Zenfone 3 Laser's wired connectivity, on the other hand, is based on the older micro-USB 2.0 standard.

The Zenfone 3 Laser only supports up to Cat.4 LTE, while the Ultra supports up to Cat.6. The Deluxe supports the newest LTE-A standard, delivering speeds up to 600Mbps, depending on the mobile carrier.

On the devices' battery sizes, both Laser and Deluxe features a non-removable 3,000mAh battery, while the Ultra has a very big 4,600mAh battery, probably to compensate for its bigger display size. Only Deluxe and Ultra has Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 feature, which can charge a battery until 60% full in only 40-45 minutes.

In conclusion, the Zenfone 3 Laser is intended to be a cheaper alternative to the flagship Zenfones, while the Ultra is the big-screen counter part of the original Zenfone 3. The Zenfone 3 Deluxe puts everything up to the highest performance configurations possible, making it the most premium of the Zenfone 3 line.
