Samsung is known to produce budget to premium range smartphones. Let's compare their three budget devices for 2016: the Galaxy J Max, the Galaxy J1 Ace, and the Galaxy J2 Pro (2016).
Starting with the display, the Galaxy J Max features a huge 7-inch TFT touchscreen as compared to 5.0" and 4.3" AMOLED display in the Galaxy J2 Pro (2016) and the Galaxy J1 Ace respectively. The J2 Pro (2016) has the best 720X1280 pixel screen resolution.
Upon launch, the J2 Pro had the latest Android 6.0 while the J Max has Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS in it.
The low budget range smartphones have low performance processors. It is evident with quad core 1.5GHz Cortex A7 CPU and Spreadtrum processor in these three smartphones. In terms of performance, the J2 Pro (2016) is better followed by the J Max and the J1 Ace.
The Mali-400MP2 GPU in the trio is not useful for playing high end games with heavy graphics.
The Galaxy J Max was a phablet with 8 MP rear camera coupled with autofocus and LED flash similar to the primary camera in the J2 Pro (2016). On the other hand, the J1 Ace has only 5MP camera with autofocus and LED flash.
In the front camera, the J Max and the J1 Ace has only 2MP lens while the latest J2 Pro (2016) has better 5MP lens. The trio has camera features like geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection and panorama.
The multitasking in the J Max is taken cared by 1.5 GB RAM. You can smoothly switch between apps with 2GB RAM in the J2 Pro (2016). Contrastingly, the J1 Ace has only 1 GB RAM in its top model.
The J1 Ace and the J Max have only 8GB internal storage option while the J2 Pro (2016) comes with 16GB in-built space.
The battery in the J Max should be bigger with 4000mAH to power the huge screen. On the other hand, the J2 Pro has comparatively better and bigger 2600mAH battery than 1900mAH battery in the J1 Ace.
Summing up, the J1 Max is a phablet, while the J2 Pro (2016) is the best phone among all.
