Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus is one of its kind, which always delay rolling new Android updates; and it seems that Nougat 7.0 will take more time to arrive in OnePlus smartphones.
The current update of Android OS in the market is 7.0 Android Nougat, which is currently found in all latest Google Phones and some recent launches. On the other hand, OnePlus smartphones feature a tweaked version of Android OS called Oxygen OS.
One Plus was quick this time in launching the beta testing version of Android Nougat, which is doing rounds among fans since August this year. Several benchmark websites have started posting details for beta testing on One Plus devices.
Everyone was excited when last week, OnePlus just pinged us with a reminder that they started rolling out new software to both OnePlus 3 variants. The updated OxygenOS 3.5.3 received OTA update.
Some of the features included are emergency calling for India, motion detection in camera and enhanced image capturing quality, added OnePlus community app, updated touch panel firmware and optimized touch precision, updated GPS library and optimized location accuracy, redesigned clock UI, redesigned calling UI, increased stability and implemented various bug fixes.
However, there are no features from the latest Nougat OS like Daydream VR and split screen. It is now expected that the new update with Nougat features will take more time to come.
Earlier, it was expected in December this year. With a recent update, OnePlus may push the Nougat release date to Q1 of 2017.
The OnePlus 3 variants will be the first to get the updates. The OnePlus X and One Plus One may get tweaked accommodation of Android Nougat. Mainly because, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chipset in OnePlus One is incompatible with Vulcan API required for Nougat.
Stay tuned for updates on One Plus 3T and One Plus 4.
