The crazy third-person shooter "Saints Row 4" finally gets proper mod support, three years after the game was released.

Developer Deep Silver Volition has recently added Steam Workshop support for its game on PC, according to Eurogamer. This will make creating and installing mods for "Saints Row 4" a lot easier. Players will now be able to add tons of new weapons, clothes and features, making the experience more fun.

This comes as a pleasant surprise for the "Saints Row" community, especially since the game came out three years ago. According to Volition, the reason for the delay is that "Saints Row 4" was not designed to contain mods in the first place.

"A handful of dedicated Volition devs worked on this in their free time to update the engine and remove memory restrictions," the developer said on Steam, "as well as finding a way for individual mods to interact and work correctly with each other without the need for running special tools."

"It was all a labor of love for our fans, and we're incredibly excited to see the crazy content you come up with!" Volition added.

Volition has also thrown out a special shoutout to the dedicated "Saints Row" modding community who has apparently worked with the developers to bring modding support to the game.

The "Saints Row 4" Steam Workshop currently has 28 available mods online, including the popular Skinballs Outfit mod by rastaman289 and the weird but powerful Flamethrower Guitar by flow754. There are also mods available for costumes from both "Saints Row: The Third" and "Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell."

In celebration of the Steam Workshop going live for "Saints Row 4," Volition has put a whopping 75 percent discount on the title on Steam until Nov. 29. Discounts are also applicable to "Saints Row 4: Game of the Century Edition" and "Saints Row Ultimate Franchise Pack," plus 50 percent off on all DLC's.
