While South Korean mobile manufacturer LG announced the launch of its Optimus LTE2 a couple of weeks ago, the company didn't share much information of the device's specification. However it revealed that the device would be the first smartphone to come with the support of 2GB accompanied with a gigantic 2,150 mAh battery.

However, in a recent development, LG has confirmed on all the specs of the new phone and has also revealed that Optimus LTE2 can be expected to arrive in South Korea sometime this week through five carriers.

In a recent press release issued by the company, it has been informed that LG Optimus LTE2 would be an Android OS-powered handset, which would boast all the high-end specifications and an up-to-date hardware under the hood to outmuscle the sales figures of direct competitors to the handset, including HTC One X and also Samsung Galaxy S3.

LG Optimus LTE2 - What to Expect?

The LG Optimus LTE2 will run on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS with new Optimus 3.0 UI sitting on top of it. The handset will also come flaunting its vibrant 4.7-inch TrueHD IPS display with 1280 X 720 pixels of resolution and 16 million colors.

Further, LG has also confirmed the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz, complemented by an Adreno 225 graphics processing unit and 2GB of RAM. On the camera front, the handset would be equipped with an 8MP rear-facing primary camera plus a 1.3MP front-facing camera for forwarding video chats.

Obviously, the smartphone's main selling points will be LTE support and further on the connectivity side, the device would also offer NFC, DLNA functionality, microUSB 2.0 with MHL featuring 5.1 channel audio output, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and the exclusive wireless charging capability.

Meanwhile, LG has stated no word on the storage amount, but the smartphone will come with a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 32GB. In addition, the phone's 2,150 mAh Li-Ion battery has been rated by LG for up to 255 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of talk time.

Talking about the form factor of the handset, it is basically based on the Candybar outlook with squarish ends, and it measures around 112 x 54 x 12 mm along with a weight of 110 grams.

The LG Optimus LTE2 will be available from this week in South Korean markets for 935,000 won (roughly $800). An optional charging pad costs $85 and battery cover checks in at $33 will be also applicable. Further, LG hasn't mentioned about the global availability of the LTE 2 though few reports are anticipating that the US carriers will get with different names of their handset.

Potential Rival - Samsung Galaxy S3

Putting an end to all the rumors and wild speculations, Samsung Galaxy S3 was unveiled a couple of weeks ago and the successor to Galaxy S2 has come with impressive features, including enhanced battery and processor capabilities. Further, Galaxy S3 has also come with some inventive "S software features," which are based on a concept of "human interaction."

While the tech enthusiasts of the industry are really excited about the new smartphone, there are many others who are somewhat disappointed with the Galaxy S3's features and specs. Many tech experts believe that at least 2GB RAM should have been there to support S3's quad-core processor. However, Galaxy S3 comes with a 1GB RAM.

In reply to that, the Korean giant recently announced its NTT DoCoMo's version of Samsung Galaxy S3, exclusively for Japan market, and as a surprise the handset boasts 2GB RAM and will be released in the market sometime this June or July.

Bearing the model number SC-06D, NTT DocoMo's Galaxy S3 with get released with dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor, 32GB of onboard storage, 1seg TV tuner, 4.8-inch 1280×720 pixels HD Super AMOLED display, 8MP main camera, 1.9MP front-facing camera, 2100mAH battery, NFC capability, 4G LTE capability and it will be 9mm thick instead of 8.6mm, while all other features are same as of the original edition.

Meanwhile, the media world is doing comparison of Samsung Galaxy S3 with all major smartphones in the market, which include HTC One X and the much-anticipated Apple's sixth generation - iPhone 5. However, the heavyweight will be facing the major competition from the unexpected LG Optimus LTE2 on the basis of performance, user-friendly capabilities and the price factor for sure, as NTT DoCoMo's Samsung Galaxy S3 price tag has yet to be released by the company. And LG Optimus LTE 2 has definitely come out as a surprise package which might raise few eyebrows in the tech world.
