"This War of Mine" developer 11 Bit Studios thanks the fans for supporting their game by launching the Anniversary Edition for the game.
Writing on the survival simulator's Steam page, the developers have expressed their heartfelt thanks for the overwhelming support the game has received since its release in 2014. They said that it was a truly game changing experience for the studio.
"We released 'This War of Mine' two years ago," the developers said, "and the response immediately turned our world as a studio upside down."
The studio is currently working on new survival simulation game "Frostpunk," and they said that the support given to "This War of Mine" has boosted the potential of the upcoming game.
"That success has given our company amazing opportunities to grow and explore new projects, such as 'Frostpunk'," the studio continued, "and that's only possible because of the people who believed in 'This War of Mine' in the first place."
As a token of appreciation, 11 Bit Studio has released "This War of Mine" Anniversary Edition, which contains new characters, new locations and a brand new ending to unlock.
The good news is, all the new content in the Anniversary Edition will be granted to all players with a copy of the original "This War of Mine" for absolutely no additional charge.
"This War of Mine" received positive reviews during its launch, getting a high score of 83 on review score aggregator Metacritic. Surprisingly, 11 Bit Studio was also able to recuperate all the money spent on developing the game two days after the game was launched, according to Eurogamer.
For those who has yet to purchase the game, 11 Bit Studio's digital retailer Games Republic is currently running a sale. "This War of Mine" is marked at only $4.99, but the offer was only available until Nov. 14. 7 p.m. If you are a Twitch Prime member, you can get the game for free for the whole month of November, according to PC Games N.
