LTE has launched its flagship Android device - the Optimus LTE2 - along with the Optimus UI 3.0. The phone boasts features competitive with other high-end Android devices, such as the Samsung Galaxy S3. Here are the need-to-know specs.

Display

The phone has a 4.7-inch IPS screen - the same as the Galaxy S3 - with a 720p resolution. With even Apple rumored to be introducing a 4-inch screen in its next smartphone, dubbed iPhone 5, it's no surprise Android devices are continuing the trend.

Internals

Inside is 2GB of RAM, as The Verge noted, to power Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and the 3.0 Optimus UI. LG said that 1GB isn't enough in Korean markets for LTE phones. However, there's no news on whether 2GB would carry over to western markets.

The processor is a Qualcomm S4 MSM8960 clocked at 1.5GHz, again rivalling the Galaxy S3. LG said battery life is improved by 40 percent compared to the device's predecessor, the Optimus LTE.

Coupled with the processor and RAM is a 2150 mAh battery, which can be charged wirelessly and offers up to 10 hours of talk time on a single charge. The phone measures 134.7x69.5x8.9 mm, wider than the iPhone 4S (58.6 mm) but thinner than the Galaxy S3 (70.6 mm).

Features

LG has brought numerous features to the LTE2, and in some cases showed off features reminiscent of other devices. On the lock screen, users can drag anywhere on the screen to unlock the device and see some of what's behind the lock screen (similar to lock screen in Windows Phone, which also offers a preview). Patterns can also be set to unlock specific apps.

From the camera app, the voice command "Kimchi" takes photos. Curiously, LG said the camera app keeps four photos before pressing the shutter button. The best of five photos can be chosen, similar to the ability to choose the best of eight with the Samsung Galaxy S3.

Tapping the back of the screen allows memos to be taken on the screen while running any app, and photos can be assigned as the icon for any app.

Availability, Price

LG said the phone is Korea-only currently, though the company added the phone will be given to carriers who want to sell the LG Optimus LTE2 (though the carrier's must support LTE, presumably).

GSMArena claimed the phone will release in South Korea this week with a price tag around 935000 won, or $800.
