The action continues as Goku, Vegeta and Trunks battle against a more powerful Zamatsu in "Dragon Ball Super" Episode 66.

The episode, titled "Showdown! The Unyielding Warriors' Miraculous Power," continues the events of the last episode, with Goku's Kamehameha struggles with Zamatsu's giant energy ball. Determined, Goku then uses his full power to pierce his attack straight through the ball; an explosion occurs, leaving Zamatsu's right face and arm swollen.

Zamatsu is supposed to be an immortal, but Vegeta wonders why his wounds have not cured. Gowasu then explains that despite being an immortal, his fusion partner, Goku Black was not, making his mind and body unstable. This might give them a chance to defeat him, but to do that, they have to merge their powers.

Goku suggests that he and Vegeta go to a merge using a Potara, and while Vegeta swore he would never merge with him again, there's no other way. The fusion effect would only last for about an hour, so they have to win within that time limit.

They fused and became Vegetto, who tells Zamatsu that two people can now play this "merging" game. Vegetto then becomes Super Saiyan Blue, naming himself Vegetto Blue. Meanwhile, Zamatsu wonders to himself why mortals try to replicate the gods; Vegetto gets tired of his monologue and punches him straight to his swollen face.

The two fighters continue with their battle, initially with Vegetto in the lead. However, Zamatsu's consistent power made him come out on top, knocking Vegetto to the ground. Zamatsu attacks with a ki blade as his final blow, but Vegetto counters.

Just as Vegetto was about to deal the final attack to the weakened Zamatsu, Goku and Vegeta suddenly got unmerged, even though it hasn't been an hour yet. They might have used too much power to sustain the fusion. This was then that Future Trunks stepped in to the battle and attacked the now-desperate Zamatsu. With a bladed version of Goku's Spirit Bomb, Trunks sliced Zamatsu in half.

With Episode 66 ending, fans of the original "Dragon Ball Z" might get surprised of the 1-hour Potara fusion rule, which didn't exist in the original anime. Trunks, being the main hero of this episode, also made fans satisfied.

As mentioned by Inquisitr, the Future Trunks arc has evolved into possibly one of the best "Dragon Ball" stories to date, with a dramatic story, great character development and well-directed battles. It looks like "Dragon Ball Super" Episode 67 would be the start a new arc, which will be aired next week.
