The Mi 5 series is the flagship model of Chinese smartphone manufacturer. Though Xiaomi is expected to launch a next gen smartphone, we are currently offered refined versions of Mi 5 series phones like Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus. Let's see whether it fulfilled our expectations from the company which is known for offering latest technology at budget price.

Xiaomi Mi 5s have been redesigned to look more premium and metallic. The fingerprint sensor is more round this time. However, the display continues to be the same as in Mi 5 with 5.15" IPS LCD display having HD resolution and Gorilla Glass 4 protection. There is an addition of 3D Touch display feature in Mi 5s.

In terms of performance, Mi brand has always offered the latest in market. The Mi 5 have a quad-core Snapdragon 820 processor with an amazing clocking speed of 2.15 GHz in Prime and Pro edition. Similarly, Mi 5s continues with the same chipset and CPU. Additionally, we have a Standard Mi 5 version, which has a clocking speed of 1.36GHz.

The gaming experience remains same with Adreno 530 GPU in both the smartphones.

Like its predecessor Mi 5, Mi 5s is also offered in two versions having 3 GB RAM/64 GB in-built storage and 4 GB RAM/128 GB internal storage. We have a standard Mi 5 version with 32 GB internal storage and 3 GB RAM. There is no option for microSD slot.

The photography department has suffered little cut in Mi 5s with only 12 MP lens in rear camera. Whereas, Mi 5 has a stunning 16 MP lens with OIS tech in rear back camera. Both comes with dual-LED flash. Additionally, a similar 4 MP lens is studded in front camera in both phones.

The Mi 5s has a 3200mAh battery as compared to Mi 5's 3000mAh battery. Both are non-removable.

Comparing Mi 5 and Mi 5s, we get very little difference except the camera and more color option in case of Mi 5s. In my view, buying Mi 5s over Mi 5 completely depends on price.
