The Internet sure knows how to twist a completely innocent story, as a Redditor's search for that "Overwatch" Tracer cosplayer he met at BlizzCon gets massively blown out of proportion.

The whole saga started when Kyle Wright, known as TheBushidoViking on Reddit, posted that he is looking for a particular Tracer cosplayer he has spoken with on the last day of the annual Blizzard event.

"This is a long shot but if you were a Tracer and were at IHOP in Anaheim tonight (November 5th, the last day of BlizzCon)," Wright started, "and I told you and your friend group the story of my friend and his love of dabbing and thus you told me of the Genji dab in Overwatch and we exchanged faces outside of the IHOP I forgot to ask for your number!"

Wright also said that his friends suggested that he posts this on the "Overwatch" subreddit. His post and the hashtag #HelpKyleFindTracer on Twitter has since become viral, and people started helping Wright out on his search for that particular Tracer.

While some have seen the story as it is, as just a simple post looking for a Tracer cosplayer, the Internet has managed to put malice into Wright's search. This all started when Polygon apparently ran the story, and made him look as if he was stalking the person.

Outraged Polygon readers took to Twitter to call Wright out for being a creep, and that the site is "putting the girl in danger" for encouraging a group of people to search for her, something that Wright never intended to do in malice.

"I never thought I would have to say this but has become increasingly clear that it needs to be said," Wright updated his post with this message. "If you are looking for, or invading this woman's privacy for any reason. You need to STOP immediately."

"The Polygon article was slanderous and turned this into a perverse situation," Wright continued. "If she wanted to contact me that is her own business. She owes me nothing. As I have stated I do not need a response. I am NOT head over heels, I am NOT infatuated."

"I appreciate what everyone's doing, but I'm not about stalking or harassment," Wright posted on his Twitter account. "If she wants to contact me that's up to her."
