HTC Desire C is not a stranger anymore. Just a day after the press shot leaked online, the Taiwanese mobile major has official announced the device in European market.
The fifth entrant in HTC's Desire series - Desire C - is more like a toned-down version of HTC One V. Of course, HTC's high-end smartphone department is already full with the One series and EVO 4G LTE.
Fulfilling the need of entry-level users, Desire C offers Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at a budget price.
HTC Desire C features a 3.5-inch display with a resolution of 320 X 480 pixels. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor clocked at 600 MHz. The device has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. Alike the One series smartphones, Desire C also offers 25GB of Dropbox storage free of cost for two years. It runs Android OS 4.0 with HTC Sense UI 4.0 overlay and Beats Audio integration.
HTC Desire C sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Connectivity-wise, Desire C is 3.5G. We are expecting HSDPA network support here. The regular connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS are up there. Moreover, HTC has announced that there will be an NFC variant of Desire C. Desire C is powered with a 1230 mAh battery.
In UK, Desire C will be available in black and white models. HTC announced that the phone will be available from T-Mobile, O2, Three, Orange, Tesco Mobile, Vodafone, Virgin Media, Phone4U and The Carphone Warehouse in UK. However, the pricing has only been revealed at T-Mobile and Orange.
T-Mobile has announced to trade the device for free at £15.50 per month on one year contract. At Orange, Desire C will be available free on £20.50 per month contract. The SIM-free model costs £169.99 (about $270) on pay as you go plan at both these service providers.
