Just like "Half-Life 3," "Left 4 Dead 3" remains to be a mystery. Still, with Turtle Rock Studios officially pulling the plugs on "Evolve," the team releases a new campaign for the original "Left 4 Dead," which is called "Dam It."

As Polygon reported, players who had been eagerly waiting for the third installment in the series might find Turtle Rock Studios' free campaign a nice treat while actually waiting for the highly anticipated "Left 4 Dead."

Those who still have the original game can install "Left 4 Dead" once again to be able to play the "Dam It" campaign, which consists of two game stories, namely "Dead Air" and "Blood Harvest."

However, the developers have pointed out that this particular campaign is in a "gray box." This means that there are some features in the downloadable content that isn't finished, though it is still playable from beginning to end.

On top of the story campaigns, "Dam It" also has two standalone survival-mode maps that was never included in the vanilla release of the first game.

Those who would like to give the original "Left 4 Dead" another spin can get the downloadable content here. For those who don't have any experience in installing custom content or campaign can also refer to the installation instructions on the page itself.

The campaign starts out at an airstrip and will have players follow through the story by traveling through the apple orchard, ravines, bridges, campgrounds and finally a boss fight at the hydroelectric power dam. In this campaign, the usual "stick together" strategy won't cut it and players are highly advised to split.

While there's still no word on "Left 4 Dead 3," fans are hopeful that even after being involved with THQ's bankruptcy regarding "Evolve," the studio will rise up once again or possibly going to be picked up by a different publisher.
