Ji Chang Wook's "The K2" gained worldwide popularity because of its unique story and his great chemistry with on-screen partner, Im Yoona. However, the actor has recently revealed that it will be his last action drama.
South Korean actor Ji Chang Wook has been rising in the ranks since nabbing the lead roles for drama series "Healer" and "The K2."
In an exclusive interview with Arirang program, Showbiz Korea, Ji Chang Wook answered one of the comment about him preferring more other genre than doing action dramas and his acting skills. The actor explained that it is not that it was not easier with doing action moves, it was just that he has been used to practicing and memorizing his action moves that it has been bearable. He also said that he still prefers going over his lines.
"Action is demanding. I will never do it again. Action is very strenuous. I might be able to do it again if I'm drawn to a production or a character even if there are extremely difficult action moves. I think it's a genre with beguiling factors," he admitted.
Moreover, it was reported that the actor's muscle pain plays a major factor in his big decision of quitting action dramas or movies.
To recall, during the press conference for the show, Ji Chang Wook explained that he was in extreme pain while filming his latest project. Because of the suffering, he is determined to never play in an action series again.
"I ended up suffering from myalgia in my neck," the 29-year-old actor shared. "This is a piece that helped me firmly decide in my heart that I will not do an action drama ever again. We're promoting the drama as bodyguard-action-genre, but I didn't see it that way. The relationships in the drama are entertaining."
"The myalgia may have been because the weather was cold. I worked out incessantly. I practiced martial arts at an action school and also lifted weights to portray a manly role. This may be the hardest project I've been in," he added.
Fans may be upset to hear that their favorite action star and leading man, Ji Chang Wook suffers from their craft however, the actor revealed he is feeling better and that his hard work won't be in vain when his diehard fans support him and his fellow actors.
Meanwhile, as positive reviews pour in for the first episodes of the new tvN drama "The K2," producing director PD Kwak Jung Hwan has revealed just how hard the show's two leads are working.
"Both of them are putting their all into giving a passionate performance," he revealed. "I think they'll both receive a lot of praise for their acting in this show."
"They are both throwing themselves into the work, without caring about possibly getting hurt, breaking anything, or getting scraped up," he added.
