Professionals who use a Windows Phone device can rest easy, as LinkedIn has released its first application for the platform since it launched in 2010. LinkedIn is a job-based social network for professionals that have over 150 million members, a far cry from the amount of users Facebook and Twitter has, but that doesn't make it any less popular.

The app which is free and smaller than 1MB is the best version of LinkedIn when compared to the ones found on Android and iOS. The features are richer and when it comes to the overall look and feel of the app, mainly due to the metro design, it is second to none.

Features here include access to real-time updates, ability to view news and information from your connections, groups, option to search for jobs, follow companies, and news about the job industry. The Live Tile capability further pushes LinkedIn for Windows Phone above versions on other platforms, something we haven't been seeing much with multiplatform applications.

A product manager at LinkedIn had this to say to LinkedIn blogger, Tomer Cohen. "We know professionals rely on their mobile devices every day to conduct business and to stay prepared for their work day."

"We've been working hard to make this new LinkedIn app best-in-class in the Windows Phone marketplace."

Facerbook and Twitter might have a lot more numbers when it comes down to users but, when it comes to a place for professionals, employers and employees to knock heads and communicate without coming across a million CityVille-related content in their feeds, LinkedIn is the place to be. We hope the company continues to support the app with great updates which should include many features found on the website.
