If you remember, LG was the first smartphone manufacturer to hit the full-HD 1080p video recording capabilities with its Optimus 2X, which was also the first dual-core smartphone debuting Tegra 2 chipset in the market. Now the company is again set to break the record in terms of processor performance and camera capabilities with a new rumored device named LG Eclipse, which sports a whopping 13-megapixel camera and 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. Of course, many quad-core powered smartphones are already out there, but this phone promises to be a true speed demon.
The device has been leaked online by Brief Mobile. The tech site has also posted an alleged rear photo of LG LS970 showing off the 13-megapixel camera with LED flash. The device will have 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 X 768 pixels. LG Eclipse is powered by quad-core 1.5 GHz Krait processor fitted on Snapdragon S4 chipset, backed up with Adreno 320 GPU and generous 2GB of RAM. It will have 16GB of internal storage.
A big deal in the phone is the whopping 13-megapixel camera sensor. But the biggest deal is its Qualcomm APQ8064 SoC (System on Chip) loaded up with the next generation Adreno 320 GPU. The new chipset is believed to outscore every Cortex A9-based chipset in the market including Tegra 3 and Exynos. Adreno 320 GPU is a true gaming rig and will outgun Samsung's favorite Mali-400MP. The powerful device is all squeezed into 8.6mm chassis.
The Korean mobile major has already revealed its first quad-core powered smartphone - the Optimus 4X - at Mobile World Conference (MWC 2012). However, we are still waiting for the new flagship model to hit stores. With the inclusion of LG Eclipse, it looks that the Optimus 4X has already lost its flagship crown before its release.
Sprint is supposed to launch LG Eclipse in U.S. market. Earlier this week, the network carrier said that it is planning to release 15 LTE-enabled smartphones in the market by the end of 2012. LG Eclipse is believed to be one of them.
