With rumors that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and the Apple iPad Pro 2 might be launched in early 2017, the two devices are being pitted against each other in order to anticipate the best buy option between the two. To start with, reports suggested that the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 might sport a 12.3-inch PixelSense display, which is touted to be similar to its previous installments. Besides, the hybrid device is also expected to be made available in 2K and 4K screen resolutions. On the other hand, the Apple iPad Pro 2 is rumored to feature IPS LCD display panel with three screen variants of 12.9-inch, 9.7-inch, and 10.5-inch.

When it comes down to the performance-related specs, reports hinted that the upcoming Surface Pro 5 will be powered by the sixth-generation Sky Lake processors or the upcoming Kaby Lake chipsets. Also, the device is expected to feature different RAM capacities starting with 8 GB up to 16 GB. Whereas, rumors suggested that the Apple gadget will sport the latest A10X processor, which is touted to be around 80 percent faster than the normal computers. It will also consist of 4 GB RAM.

As far as the battery specs are concerned, the fifth installment of the Surface Pro device and the iPad Pro 2 is expected to feature improved battery life as compared to its predecessors. In terms of software specs, the Microsoft device is expected to run on the Windows 10 Redstone 2 OS whereas the Apple device will feature iOS 10.

Furthermore, both the Microsoft Surface Pro 5 and Apple iPad Pro 2 might feature enhanced stylus and also provide standard connectivity options like USB Type-C support, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

Besides, rumors hinted that both the devices will be priced in a close range as the Surface Pro 5 is expected to be priced for $899 while the iPad Pro 2 will be made available for $799. However, there is no official word on the rumored specs and price range of the two gadgets.
