The much anticipated upcoming title in the "Mass Effect" series, "Mass Effect: Andromeda," is coming out in a few months, and fans are getting excited. Bioware has dropped a few hints about what to expect from its new sci-fi action role-playing game.

Speaking recently during a panel around New York Comic Con at the Javits Convention Center, Bioware creative director Mac Walters said that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is not a sequel to 2012 title "Mass Effect 3," Red Bull reported.

"'Mass Effect: Andromeda' is different because we want it to be different," Walters pointed out. "'Mass Effect' already was an evolution from the Space Marine that just destroys everything without caring too much, without recognising the impact he has on his surrounding. But with 'Andromeda' we want this to be a hero journey."

Walters also said that compared to elite soldier type hero in the "Mass Effect" trilogy, the protagonist of "Mass Effect: Andromeda," Ryder, starts out as an ordinary person, and despite having some military training, the protagonist still has to learn the ropes.

The Bioware director also said that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" is more on exploring the vast open world rather than full-on combat, another element that is different from the "Mass Effect" trilogy games.

"We want you to enjoy spending time in these worlds", says Walters. "Andromeda is not just about planet hopping from one combat zone to the next, but real and meaningful exploration. We want to wake up this little scientist and diplomat in you that is interested in getting to know these races, how their societies operate and how their tech works."

We are just a couple of days away from Bioware's annual N7 Day, and fans are expecting more information about the highly anticipated game, including an announcement of a concrete release date.

Earlier this month, publishing company Dark Horse has accidentally leaked the release date for "Mass Effect: Andromeda," as seen on an Amazon listing for its upcoming "Mass Effect" artbook "The Art of Mass Effect: Andromeda," to be released on Mar. 21, 2017.

A sentence on the description states that the hard-cover book will be released simultaneously with the game, according to Black Girl Nerds. That part was since removed from the Amazon listing.

N7 is just around the corner so keep posted for more "Mass Effect: Andromeda" news
