Feral Interactive has confirmed that Eidos Montreal's cyberpunk action role playing game "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" will be making its way to Linux next week.
The London-based publishing company, which has been porting known games like "Total War: Warhammer," "Tomb Raider," and more to Linux and Mac since 1996, will also be doing the Linux and Mac port for the latest "Deus Ex" game.
The Linux version of "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" will most likely utilize the OS' OpenGL or Vulkan to power its graphics engine. However, Feral has said that they have no information on that one yet, and that they will be letting fans know as soon as an update is available.
Feral has not announced exact specifications for the Linux version of "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided," but the publisher confirmed on Twitter that this version is native and not wrapped like some people feared.
While the Linux version is announced to be on its way, the same cannot be said for the Mac port of "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided." The Mac version needs an updated Metal graphics API to run on Apple devices.
Feral said that we may not get a Mac port for the game until Apple releases an update for the API, according to Zero Lives.
Feral will be hosting a live stream gameplay of the Linux version of "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" on Twitch this Thurdsay, Oct. 27, 10 a.m.PDT so tune in to see this port in action.
The Linux version of "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" will be officially released on Nov. 3, while there is still no set date for the Mac version.
In other news, Eidos Montreal has dropped a PC patch for "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" last week. The new patch update 592.1 addresses some of the game's gameplay and DirectX 12 issues.
