Two tech giants are battling for superiority in the entry level graphic card arena. For gamers on a tight budget, their entry level graphic cards can surely power your gaming experience like a pro. Which will be the entry level champ betweeen the AMD RX 460 or NVIDIA GTX 1050? Read on.
The RX 460 packs a GPU designated as Baffin XT, comprising of 16 Compute Units actuated, and, therefore, 1024 Shader Processing Units, 64 TMUs, and 16 ROPs, running at 1400 MHz.
While on the othe rhand, The GTX 1050 is equipped with a GPU named GP107-400, which packs 8 SM activated, and so, it will have 1024 Shader Processing Units, 48 TMUs, and 32 ROPS.It's CPU runs at a 1316MHz and up to to 1380MHz when over clocked.
The two fare evenly in memory as the RX 460 and GTX 1050 both have a 128-bit GDDR5 memory interface and a 112 GB/s memory bandwidth. Also, the memory clock for both GTX's GPU and that of the RX only has a difference of 50MHz.
In comparisons of TFLOPS, AMD's Radeon RX 460 packs a 2.2 at maximum performance while the GTX 1050 only has 2.1, which is lower.
However, gamers can enjoy non-graphic-intensive games such as Overwatch, DOTA 2, and League of Legends, even at HD resolutions. Also for superb performance, both RX 460 and GTX 1050 can be complimented by a RAM of 8GB - minimum.
The GTX will be available in market in two variants of 1050 2GB and 1050 4GB at $119 and $149, respectively, and will be rolled out by October. Meanwhile, the AMD RX 460 4GB variant will retail at $159, as stated on their website.
It is interesting to note that Nvidia's new GeForce GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti graphics cards aren't even out yet but they have already prompted AMD to slash the prices on two-thirds of its Radeon RX 400-series lineup.
In summary, the RX 460 slightly outshines NVIDIAGTX 1050, but actual performance result have found that the GTX 1050 handles better FPS than the RX 460.
