Telltale Games may be planning a second season for one of its popular titles, "Minecraft: Story Mode."
The episodic point-and-click narrative game based on Mojang's popular sandbox title "Minecraft" has recently been concluded, with its eighth episode "A Journey's End" released in September. Fans are now speculating that Telltale will be releasing a new set of episodes for the series.
Warning: major spoilers ahead.
The ending of "Minecraft: Story Mode"'s last episode "A Journey's End" has strongly opened the possibilities of a second season for the title. During the end of the episode, Jesse returns with his crew, taking home all the relics they have collected throughout the game.
However, they have noticed that some relics, the enchanted flint and steel and the redstone heart, are missing, and they found out that Ivor stole them. The gang catches Ivor in the act, and Ivor heads towards the Portal Network. The player is then presented with two options: chase Ivor or leave him alone.
According to Video Games Blogger, the open ended ending of "Minecraft: Story Mode" is a strong hint that there is possibly a Season Two.
The site has also predicted a Q4 2017 - 2018 release date window for the second season. Since Telltale Games has acquired a lot of rights for other properties, there is a chance that the next season, if there is one, will not be released until a year or two after the release of Season One's final episode.
In other news, Telltale has announced that the first episode of "Minecraft: Story Mode," "The Order of the Stone," will be free to download on on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 10, iOS, and Android worldwide. The Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 versions are only available in the US for now, with the Europe version coming soon.
Stay tuned for more updates on "Minecraft: Story Mode" Season Two.
