Movie enthusiasts' are in for a treat. With director James Cameron back at the helm, latest reports claimed that Stephan Lang and Sigourney Weaver may reprise their roles in "Avatar 2."
According to Movie News Guide, fans began speculating that "Avatar 2" may include the unique resurrection of Lang and Weaver's character. The two respectively portrayed Colonel Miles Quaritch and Dr. Grace Augustine in the first installment.
In an interview with Cinema Blend, Stephen Lang spilled the beans about the epic science fiction film's future. There, he revealed that director Cameron let him know that his character will seemingly come back.
"When it kind of became this global phenomenon within a very, very short time that the man said to me, 'You're coming back,' and I said, 'How?' He said, 'I told you that already!' And you know, he'd mentioned it once, a long time ago, when we'd been shooting, but it was speculative! You don't dare to believe anything. 'It's totally not real'," Lang stressed.
However, there is no official announcement yet. Thus, the claims should be taken lightly.
The story of "Avatar 2" will revolve around Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and Jake's (Sam Worthington) life as a married couple. It will also continue to follow the universe of planet Pandora.
"The storyline in the sequels really follows Jake and Neytiri and their children," director Cameron told Variety. "It's more of a family saga about the struggle with the humans. But thematically, 'Toruk' manages to land very very closely to the feeling of where the sequel stories are going."
Filming for the sequel film will presumably commence in early 2017 with an intended release date in December of 2018. However, director Cameron stated that the release date schedule is not yet final.
"We haven't moved that target yet, but we will if we need to," he stressed. "The important thing for me is not when the first one comes out, but the cadence of the release pattern. I want them to be released as close together as possible."
