Capcom's latest entry to the longest-running horror franchise in videogame, "Resident Evil 7," is officially saying goodbye to the classic gameplay mechanics that "Resident Evil 4" started. Will the game be better or worse than the previous entries "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6?"
In a recent report made by Gamezone, new updates to "Resident Evil 7" have been released, hinting a few more of the game's mechanics and features as the New York Comic-Con have ended.
An interview with Masachika Kawata, courtesy of YugaTech, indicates that the game will not feature the same online modes that all players have been used to with the previous titles. When asked about why, Kawata's explanation was as follows;
"'Resident Evil 7' is not supporting any online modes. So for example, with Resident Evil 5, we focused on cooperative online play, which as well-received. But the key concept of Resident Evil 7 is horror, so from the very beginning, we thought that playing alone will give the best horror experience."
Kawata also mentioned that their team is looking forward to using the same feature in the future titles if the return to the survival horror without guns blazing and the introduction of the first person perspective as an added immersion is well-received. This could mean that "Resident Evil" will be actually scary once again.
With the success of titles like "Amnesia," "Outlast," and "P.T," fans could be in for a real horror treat with "Resident Evil 7," but a lot of players may also miss the third person shooting action that "Resident Evil 5" and "Resident Evil 6" offered.
Below is a 15-minute gameplay video of "Resident Evil 7."
"Resident Evil 7" is expected to arrive on January 26, 2017 worldwide. A lot of fans are excited about the game returning to its roots and it could be highly possible that it will once again set the standards of horror games.
