Eidos Montreal has recently added DirectX 12 support to its cyberpunk action game "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided."

According to an update on Steam, the developers have added Patch v.1.9 build 582.1_P9 last Friday, Oct. 7, which adds support for DirectX 12, along with other bug fixes.

The developer also said that DirectX 12 Multi-GPU support in "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" is being released only as a preview through the dx12_mgpu_preview branch on Steam.

"We feel that it is in a state where we can release it to you," Eidos Montreal explained, "but we are aware that some systems might still experience issues."

In order to activate Multi-GPU DirectX 12, players should right-click on the game on the Steam Library, select Properties from the context menu, and go to the Beta tab. Once there, select dx12_mgpu_preview from the dropdown menu and close the window.

The patch update was released following the persistent issues raised by the community about the game performing poorly on NVIDIA's hardware despite the DX12 support. As tested by website DSO Gaming prior to the new patch update, "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided" showed an "underwhelming performance in DX 12," and was "unable to offer a constant 60fps experience".

The game, however, presented no issues when run in DX11. The test was done using an Intel i7 4930K, turbo boosted at 4.2Ghz, with 8GB RAM, NVIDIA's GTX980Ti, Windows 10 64-bit and the latest WHQL version of the GeForce drivers.

Youtuber Joker Productions also discussed the difference of DX11 and DX12 on both the AMD RX 480 and the NVIDIA GTX 1060 last month, which shows that the game runs more smoothly on the older version of Direct X. Check out the video below.

As the patch update was just recently released, we have yet to find out if it has brought significant improvements to the DX 12 support for "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided." Stay tuned for more news.
