The latest NBA trade rumors hinted that the Miami Heat might ink a deal with the Sacramento Kings before the start of the new season. Reports claimed that the Heat are eyeing the Kings' small forward Rudy Gay in order to improve their roster.
Sports Rageous reported that the Miami Heat are currently in the process of rebuilding their team in order to replace their power forward Chris Bosh. It is stated that the Bosh's medical condition and Dwyane Wade's departure in the offseason have adversely affected the team's overall morale. Hence, the Heat is reportedly looking out for more talented players to avoid the same situation in the new season.
According to the trade rumors, adding Gay is expected to help the Miami Heat to fill the frontcourt void created by Wade's exit. Reports hinted that Gay might be teamed up with Heat's center Hassan Whiteside, which is rumored to help the team put up high scores on the board in the upcoming season.
On the other hand, it is stated that the Miami Heat doesn't have enough tradable options and enough cap space to accommodate him onto their roster. However, the Heat can choose to wait for the next year because this is when the Kings' small forward will be a free agent.
Meanwhile, few reports stated that even though the Heat is looking for a perfect replacement option for Bosh, the veteran player has insisted that he is ready to play despite his medical issues. But, the Heat might not choose to sign up Bosh for the new season, as it is touted to a huge risk for them.
Also, Gay recently voiced his decision to the Sacramento Kings management that he is planning to exercise his 2017 player option and become an unrestricted free agent, reported Yahoo Sports. This is expected to force the Kings to look out for Gay's trade options before he hits the free agency.
So, it remains to be seen whether the Miami Heat is able to lure the Sacramento Kings to give up Gay for a blockbuster deal. As of now, none of the teams have officially stated about the rumored trade scenario.
