Last year, there had been a couple of comparisons between the MacBook Air and the Lenovo Yoya 900. Both laptops have their own pros and cons, but a lot of advantages went to the Lenovo model. Will this be changed by the upcoming MacBook Pro 2016, or now dubbed as the MacBook Air 2017?
Processor
The Lenovo Yoga 900 can be powered up to the 6th generation Intel® CoreTM i7 processor. If rumors about the newer MacBook models using the 7th generation Kaby Lake processor, things are looking pretty good for Apple. The next MacBook Pro would finally be something ahead and not the other way around.
Graphics
The MacBook Pro 2016 or 2017 is rumored to be getting an Intel GPU instead of the usual AMD. If this would be true, Apple's laptop could be more powerful than Lenovo Yoga 900's Iris Graphics 540. Still, this would depend on the processor variance.
The Iris Graphics 540 can still be a decent video card that can run games of 2015 under low or medium settings. It can be somewhat better than GeForce 920M, which is already a dedicated video card.
If Apple chooses to use the same GPU, the power consumption management may side on Apple as the previous MacBook Air had better battery performance over the Yoga 900.
Display
The Yoga 900 has a QHD+ resolution of 3200x1800.The formar MacBook Air 2015 had a lower 1440x900 resolution. If rumors are true, the next MacBook Pro or MacBook Air could have resultions up to 4K with an equally large PPI to boot.
All in all, if Apple finally releases the next MacBook Air, it would overshadow the current Lenovo Yoga 900 unless the latter gets another update or another model altogether. Otherwise, consumers may still find Lenovo's laptop as another great and affordable alternative without sacrificing style.
