T-Mobile has been airing a new TV commercial, starring model-actress Carly Foulkes, with an underlying message that T-Mobile boasts a speedy 4G network to be reckoned with. We do not know how fast the Internet speeds are, as Verizon and AT&T are leaders in 4G arena. But the Snapdragon S4 processor, featured in HTC One S, is really fast. Really very fast.

Qualcomm's processor challenges the fact that only quad-core processors are snappy. The dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor (clocked at 1.5 GHz) has raised the bar by performing better in benchmarks than other dual-core powered android devices found in the whole market.

"Scoring 25 percent higher than its older siblings in CPU performance benchmarks, shows Qualcomm has delivered on its promise for higher performance CPU," said Jim Mielke, vice president of engineering at ABI Research, "The combination of the 28nm [process] and the higher-performing Qualcomm core provides the best user experience found in any Android phone."

HTC One S' powerhouse - Snapdragon MSM8260A is the company's first 28 nanometer chip, which is a significant advancement of its sibling 45 nanometer chip. The smaller piece of Silicon is faster and more power efficient than the older processor chips.

HTC One S boasts a dual-core processor chip but it delivers the feel of a quad-core processor. In some benchmark test, the performance of Snapdragon S4 processor chip is equivalent to Nvidia's Tegra 3 chipset. Along with a snappy processor, GPU performance is also at par. ABI research also concludes that the battery performance is meliorated.

One S is the first device in the HTC One series to launch in U.S. market. It is fast, well-designed and has a decent camera. It runs Android Ice Cream Sandwich. T-Mobile is also offering 25GB of free Dropbox storage with One S for two years.

Introduced at Mobile World Congress show in February, HTC One S is selling at a price of $199 on 2-year contract by T-Mobile. But customer can also get discount by trading-in their old phones at T-Mobile retail stores (the discount period is ending on May 8). AT&T's variant - HTC One X - is scheduled for May 6 release. HTC One V will release later.
