With the latest "Pokémon GO" update rolling out, trainers who are using rooted devices wouldn't be able to keep playing the game as the changes will block users that have jailbroken and rooted devices. That's where Magisk comes into play.
Magisk, short for Magic Mask is an Xposed, is an Xposed module that efforlessly masks Android device's rooted status and more. While not everything is required to be understood due to the huge amount and technical mumbo jumbo on the official thread, here's an easy guide on how to get it going and play "Pokémon GO" with your device still rooted.
Take note the the device needs to be rooted before doing this and that TWRP is already installed. For a separate guide on how to install TWRP, please refer to this link. We also suggest that if you're not sure on how to work flashing ROMs, find somebody who can because it may brick the device and render it completely useless and void of warranty.
Another thing to note is to the need to unroot the device prior to proceeding with the steps below. SuperSU is the best method to unrooting your device. Once done with the process below, users can reroot the device with Magisk INSTALLED.
Step 1: Download the the latest version of the Magisk module here. It can be placed anywhere, but it is highly recommended to place it where it would be easier and faster to find.
Step 2: Once downloaded, transfer the the zip file for Magisk to the root directory of the device (Internal storage)
Step 3: Boot the device into TWRP recovery mode.
Step 4: Tap the "Install" button and browse to the Magisk zip file that was downloaded.
Step 5: Now go to "Swipe to Confirm Flash" to proceed with the flashing process. Take note that this is very important process and running out of battery isn't going to spell good news. Be sure to have the device charged enough or plugged into an outlet.
Step 6: Select Reboot System once done.
"Pokémon GO" should work now and the server won't be able to tell if the device is rooted or not.
