With the recent announcement of Apple's new iPhone 7, praises and criticisms started popping out everywhere. In this day and age, wowing the consumers may take a bit more effort; and in Apple's case, a lot of people don't seem to be fond of their newest smartphone offering.
The iPhone 7's features aren't exactly extremely innovative when compared to other brands, especially Samsung's flagship models. Still, Apple made a strong point with the iPhone 7 as a worthy successor to the previous iPhone 6 and the improvements are actually well-worth the wait.
Camera
For some, being able to shoot clear shots with less blur and sharp image is enough. To others, it goes way above that and the new iPhone 7 made a great jump from F/2.2 to a wide opening of F/1.8. This means brighter images, shallower depth of field (bokeh) and better low-light capabilities.
Though it may sound overdue, Apple still managed to catch up with the dual-lens setup, which introduces a variety of other possibilities like depth effect. This further makes the blur between background and foreground even shallower like that of a DSLR.
Headphones
The headphones feature of iPhone 7 may be a deal-breaker for some, but if consumers would actually look past the minor annoyances it may incur while still getting used to it, it actually is a convenient thing.
Afterall, there's still a dongle, which will allow consumers to still use their favorite headphones and it isn't much of a bulk that would ruin the experience of donning the iPhone 7 around.
Waterproofing/Water Resistance
Before, smartphone manufacturers throw jokes at the iPhone 6, not being water resistant. This was a sad fact and at the time of its release, anybody would really be blown away with how Apple managed not to include such a standard feature.
iPhone 7 changes this as it can now resist water damage as low as 1.5 meters within 30 minutes. Not better than what Samsung had been doing with its smartphones that has the feature, but still a great addition to an almost household name for smartphones in the U.S. One less worry with accidents like dropping phones into a pool.
There may be even more features for the iPhone 7 that we're yet to really uncover even with the official announcement. It may not surpass some Android smartphones, but it makes a solid statement that it is very worth the upgrade for iPhone 6 users.
