MGM has drawn up an official shortlist of potential actors for the 25th James Bond movie after Daniel Craig has declared that he is ready to hang up the tuxedo.
The Sun reported that the list includes long rumored names like Idris Elba, 43, Michaael Fassbender, 39, and Tom Hiddleston, 35 as well as occasionally mentioned names like Charlie Hunnam, 36, Luke Evans, 37, and Aidan Turner, 33.
However, among the above mentioned names, a source of the movie company revealed that Elba seems to be the favorite.
"To get anyone to take over from Daniel will be a tough job," the source began. "There will be a lot of trepidation about a new Bond, but Idris' talent and proven appeal gives executives a lot of heart. Idris may be a little older than the other candidates but he looks like he is still in his 30s.
"MGM are confident that they are in a pretty strong place with a raft of talent available."
Idris, in his recent interview with Good Morning America said that he hasn't spoken with anyone about playing 007, adding that he's a bit too old to play James Bond.
"It is the wildest rumor in the world. I keep saying if it were to happen it would be the will of a nation because there hasn't been any talks between me and the studio about any of that.," the (Beast of No Nation") actor clarified. "But everywhere I go, people have been wanting that to happen. But if I'm really honest man, I think I'm too old for that."
Tom Hiddleston is still one of the most likely choice to be the next 007, however his odds are beginning to become uncertain after so many PDA moments with Taylor Swift.
"Bond needs an air of mystery - his public romance with Taylor has made him totally uncastable," one insider told The Sun.
Michael Fassbender, on the other hand, is also in-demand and may likely get the James Bond role as well.
Either way, it looks like one of these six actors could be our next 007 in James Bond 25.
