Supercell has announced the cancellation of its fan event for "Clash of Clans," "ClashCon," which, for some people, spells bad news for the long-running mobile game.
The team announced the unfortunate news on the official "Clash of Clans" blog. "Part of working in small teams means sometimes saying no to things we badly want to do," the team said. "Unfortunately, this year, we have to say no to ClashCon."
"We decided that this year the best way to thank our players is to stay focused on the things that benefit the entire Clash Community," the team explained further, "improvements and additions to the games, and experiences that players everywhere can enjoy."
For some players, it may be a good move for Supercell to cancel this year's event, which was originally scheduled to happen in Los Angeles this November.
Unfortunately for some, after several years of reigning above other mobile games, it looks like "Clash of Clans" has reached its end. A handful of players took the cancellation of ClashCon as a red flag for the game, pointing out that "Clash is dying."
"Guys there is no other way to sugar coat what is happening," a "Clash of Clan" player wrote on the Supercell forums. "Read between the lines, we are in our final stage of dying."
Earlier this year, fans were outraged by the infamous Town Hall 11 update, as reported by Design & Trend, driving a lot of players away. The backlash was so intense that even top "Clash of Clan" aficionado and Youtuber Chief Pat started to lose faith in the game.
A lot of players have now jumped over to Supercell's other "Clash" game, "Clash Royale," abandoning the game they have previously spent hours on.
Supercell is now putting all their hopes on the huge September update, as a way of luring players back into the game. This also aims to make up for the disappointing August update, according to Neurogadget.
Is the end in sight for "Clash of Clans?" Stay tuned to see if the latest update will finally revive the game.
