If you have the Reminders app on your iPhone, managing the to-do lists for a day and tasks will come out to be much better if it is professional or personal. This is just a great tool if it is about managing a shopping list or planning things over holidays.
You can even create, edit, group, and improve your reminder lists to make sure you finish your task more efficiently and easily.
Creating and Managing Lists on iPhone Reminders
The starting point in using Reminders is to create a list that suits your needs the best. You can, for example, have various lists categorized under work, school, groceries, or even a travel checklist.
How to Create a New List
- Open the Reminders app and tap Add List.
- Select an account—usually iCloud and give a name to your list.
- Select a color, icon, or even an emoji to help personalize and make it easy to identify your list.
- Tap Done to complete creating your list.
Editing a List:
- To edit lists, you can simply
- Tap on the list that you wish to edit
- Tap the More button three dots, and select Show List Info
- From this point, you can alter the name, color, or icon and tap Done
Grouping Lists Together
You can keep several lists grouped under a single category like "Work" or "Personal" lists for better organization.
- Tap and hold on a list, then drag it to another list.
- Name the new group and tap Create.
- This enables you to keep related tasks in one easy-to-manage space.
Moving and Organizing Reminders
When your tasks change or when the priorities shift, you can easily move reminders from different lists or even reposition them within the same list.
How to Move a Reminder:
- Tap the list with the reminder you want to move.
- Tap the reminder then hit Edit Details.
- Tap List, select a different list, and then tap Done.
- Alternatively, you can drag and drop reminders between lists on an iPad or even use the iPhone's swipe-and-hold function to relocate tasks with ease.
Resorting Reminders:
- Tap and hold a reminder, then drag it to a different position in the list.
- Make it a subtask, drag it to another reminder.
- Templates
- Use them to save much time when you always make similar lists, like your daily routine or a list for packing.
Create Template
- Open the list that you want to be used as a template.
- Tap More and select Save as Template
- Assign a name and tap Save.
- You can reuse this list whenever needed, and it does not need to start from scratch.
Tagging Reminders for Easy Access
Tags are a good way to classify reminders by keyword so you can easily locate related tasks later. For instance, you can have tags like #Errands or #Work to group your reminders across multiple lists.
How to Create a Tag:
- While creating or editing a reminder, tap the Tag button.
- Enter a keyword and assign it as a tag.
- Tap on tags in the Tag Browser at the bottom of your list view to filter and search for reminders. You can also apply multiple tags to view only reminders that fit all your criteria.
Use Smart Lists to Streamline Your Workflow
Smart Lists automatically organize reminders based on criteria you set, such as date, location, or priority. This helps you focus on what's due today, upcoming tasks, or flagged reminders.
How to Create a Custom Smart List:
- Tap Add List, select Make into Smart List.
- Choose criteria such as date range, priority, or location.
- Tap Done to create the list.
Smart Lists automatically change as reminders correspond to your specified criteria so you don't have to swap them one by one.
With advanced features available in the Reminders app on iPhone, managing tasks and to-do lists has never been easier. It offers personalized lists, templates, and smart lists, ensuring that you are organized and up to date on all responsibilities.
