Siri, your one-stop digital assistant in iOS, can accomplish your requests on iPhone 16. It has no physical body but its virtual presence is enough to kickstart your day with a "Please turn on the lights" or "Find directions" command.
This virtual assistant can be complex sometimes, but don't worry. This guide will help you breeze through it and use it in ways you can't imagine.
Getting Started With Siri
If you want to ask Siri about anything, just hold down the Side button. Don't stop until the Siri icon shows up at the bottom part of your screen. You need to enable it via Settings. From here, tap Siri and Search, then click Press Side Button.
After that, you can now toggle on Allow Siri When Locked Switch. With this, the choice is yours if you will enable or disable Siri.
There's no need for a Side button on iOS 17 or newer versions. Just straight away say, "Hey Siri."
How to Change Siri's Voice
To do this, head to the Settings app. Scroll until you see Siri. Select it, then tap Voice. You can now alter the voice genders of the assistant. You can also change the language by tapping Language from the Siri and Search tab.
Single Button to Activate Siri
Did you know that Siri can answer you loudly if the silent mode is off? It's a vice-versa case if the silent mode is turned on.
For an iPhone with Face ID, just press and hold the button on the side. For those with a Home Button, of course, you need to hold it. For EarPods users, do the same thing but with the call button.
If you're leaning toward CarPlay, do this with the voice command button on the steering wheel. Alternatively, it also works by holding the Home Button on the CarPlay Home Screen.
Make Requests With Siri
Follow-up requests are important if you badly need a thing or two to finish. Siri can help you with this. First, activate the digital assistant, then make the request you want. Immediately make a request as a follow-up to the first one.
Correct Siri If There's Misunderstanding
Just like your naughty friend who does not really listen to your rants, Siri can sometimes misunderstand you. To get started, tap the circular rainbow icon to repeat your request. Don't forget to spell out some parts of your request by clicking the same button. For instance, say "Call," then spell your friend's name.
Before sending a request, edit the message. Just say "Change it." To edit the onscreen request, then use an onscreen keyboard.
On top of these tips, you can also ask Siri to know who you are. For instance, you can use it if you're asking it how to return to your humble abode.
Siri can also be used to make shortcut suggestions based on your app usage. Apart from that, it's capable of reading incoming messages, suggesting who to text, and more.
