Electronic Arts may just have hinted a remaster for the first three "Mass Effect" games in the future.
Speaking to Game Informer at this year's Gamescom, Electronic Arts' Executive Vice President Patrick Soderlund has declared that the studio is "actively looking" at possible remasters for the popular sci-fi game series.
"I can't announce anything today," Soderlund said, "but you can expect us most likely to follow our fellow partners in Activision and other companies that have done this successfully."
Last year, Soderlund told Game Informer that the company wants to pour its resources on new titles instead of going back to old ones and remastering them. However, that opinion may have just changed this year.
"What's changed is that there is proof in the market that people want it, maybe more than there was when we spoke," Soderlund said. "There were some that did it before, but I think there is even more clear evidence that this is something that people really want."
The fans have been requesting for a remaster for the first three "Mass Effect" games, and EA wants to make sure they get it right before charging ahead.
"A remaster is something that you can just do or do it really well," the EA VP explained. "I want to make sure that if we were to do it, we would do it really well and that people feel that it's the same game but it feels so much better in this new shape and form."
Soderlund also explained why EA is not showing anything from their upcoming "Mass Effect" title, "Mass Effect: Andromeda."
He said that EA is focusing on its major titles this year, such as "Titanfall 2" and "Battlefield 1," and after their respective releases, the studio will move on with promoting "Mass Effect: Andromeda."
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is slated for an early 2017 release.
