Lenovo's Yoga ultrabook is the company's convertible ultrabook, with a 360 degree flip-and-fold design. Want to buy one? Be prepared to dig deep into your wallet as the baseline Yoga starts at $1,900.

Announced at the beginning of the year, the IdeaPad Yoga is the industry's thinnest convertible ultrabook, measuring 0.67 inches (19.6mm) and weighing 3.1lbs (1.4kg).

While the basic model is $1900 (£1200), that price rises to $2380 (£1500) if users go for the Core i7 model. Lenovo said to The Inquirer that the price is only a guide. However, some people could feel that it's expensive despite the dual functionality.

"It is clear to us that consumer want their four screens: mobile devices, tablets, notebooks and smart TVs and they want them to work together seamlessly, anytime, anywhere.

"The IdeaPad Yoga multi-mode notebook redefines the convergence and convertible user experience by bringing together the best of traditional PCs, with the best of tablets and more," Lenovo Chairman and CEO, Yang Yuanqing, said.

The Yoga functions as a laptop and touch-based tablet. Patented technology on the hinge allows the keyboard to rest up against the display, while allowing the device to be partially open so it can stand up. With the keyboard, the device is a laptop; Without it, the device is a tablet. For Windows 8, which has the desktop and Metro versions of the operating system, the tablet seems a perfect fit.

The Yoga uses an Ivy Bridge Processor, has 8GB of RAM and stores a 256GB SSD. The 13-inch display also has a resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels, using a IPS panel to provide wide viewing angles. Lenovo claims the device has eight hours of battery life due to the 54Wh battery.

In its impressions on the product, ZDNet noted that the device felt heavy at 3.1 pounds and said it would be used more as a laptop than a tablet. With the high-resolution display and wide viewing angles, that seems disappointing.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga will release in the second half of 2012, though The Inquirer has been told the device will release around October.
