While the Xbox One has already listed numerous game titles that are now playable via its backwards compatibility feature, PS4 has not followed suit until now.

Thus, fans have been asking for updates if they would still enjoy such in their Sony gaming console.

However, there has been no official statement yet from the tech company.

According to Inverse, should Sony decide to finally launch its own version of the backwards compatibility feature for PS4, it will surely be a "very smart" thing to do.

By adding such feature, PS3 games can already be playable on the fourth generation Play Station systems.

Meanwhile, the report noted that following Microsoft's move to finally launch the Xbox One backwards compatibility last year, the console has been continuously receiving updates, and the number of its compatible games has constantly been increasing as well.

As a result, its sales have reportedly been taking some leaps especially when "Read Dead Redemption" has been included in the list of backwards compatibility playable games.

Inverse further pointed out that apart from the absence of the backwards compatibility feature, PS4 seemingly has a problem, too, when it comes to the availability of various game titles.

It was explained that while the third gen PlayStation has quite a library of original games and the second gen has a long list as well via the online market place PlayStation Network, none of those purchases can be used in the fourth gen.

Back in June, Gotta Be Mobile shared that with Xbox One backwards compatibility, many gamers have reportedly been more eager to know if PS4 will be boasting the same feature eventually.

As of now, those who would like to enjoy old PlayStation games have to access them from the game rental service PlayStation Now.

With several gamers now airing their interest to enjoy older titles though the PS4 backwards compatibility feature, stay tuned if Sony will hear them out and eventually adapt to the compatition and market needs.
