Harry Potter fans around the world will be sorely disappointed as series creator J.K. Rowling said that there are no plans for a ninth novel after 'Harry Potter And The Cursed Child."
The book, which is actually the published script for a two-part play with the same name, was released today with much fanfare from "Potterheads," with some lining up as early as 6 a.m to get their hands on a copy.
However, J.K. Rowling dashes the hopes of Harry Potter fans who are clamoring for a ninth installment of "Harry Potter."
According to Reuters, the "Harry Potter" author said that the play is the last of the series, and marks the end of the boy wizard's journey.
J.K. Rowling was asked during the play's premiere in London if the book will be a start of a new "Harry Potter" series in the future.
"He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we're done," Rowling declared.
"So, I'm thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now." the "Harry Potter" creator added.
"I could see it would work perfectly," she said. "So, I never wanted to write another novel, but this will give the fans something special."
The five-hour play tells the story of the boy who lived, 19 years after the events of the previous novel. Harry is now a 37-year-old employee of the Ministry of Magic and a father of three.
Rowling also expressed her admiration for the "Harry Potter" fanbase who did not spoil the story of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" ahead of the book release, BBC reported.
"It's the most extraordinary fandom, so I'm not surprised," the best-selling author said. "They didn't want to spoil it for each other."
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," both instage play and book form, is highly rated by critics and fans alike.
