The latest rumors about the Google Nexus 2016 hinted that the Taiwanese manufacturer HTC is carrying out the Nexus production similar to its Desire series. The two variants of the upcoming Google smartphone, the Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish, will reportedly not hahave a compact body structure.
BGR reported that the Nexus Marlin will have a metallic body similar to the HTC 10 device. Also, the Nexus Sailfish is expected to be manufactured by using both metal and plastic material. Reports claimed that the technology giant is trying to bring the Google Nexus 2016 prices down as compared to its predecessors with the help of different materials.
There are reports that the plastic Nexus Sailfish will be a lot cheaper that the metal-infused Nexus Marlin variant. However, Nexus Blog reported that even though the Sailfish variant will consist of polycarbonate material, it might still be priced more than $350.
Apart from the body build reports, it is stated that the Google Nexus 2016 variants will sport different display and processor specs. Rumors hinted that the Nexus Marlin will feature a 5.5-inch screen along with 2,560 x 1,440 pixels AMOLED display. It is also expected to consist of a Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB RAM.
Besides, the Marlin phone will have 32 GB to 128 GB storage option. The rumors hinted that the smartphone will have a fingerprint sensor on the back panel along with a 12-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front camera. The device might also include a 3,450 mAh battery.
On the other hand, the Nexus Sailfish 2016 is expected to consist of a 5.2-inch screen with Full HD AMOLED display panel. There are no details about the chipset, but the variant is expected to feature 4 GB RAM and a quad-core 2.0 GHz processor. It will also include 2,770 mAh battery, reported Android Origin.
Furthermore, the Google Nexus 2016 variants will run on the Android 7.0 Nougat OS and are expected to have the USB Type-C port for faster data transfers.
Despite all the specs rumors, there is no official word yet on the release date of the Google Nexus 2016 phone. It is expected to be launched in August 2016. Stay tuned for confirmed updates.
