Actress Brie Larson will be starring as Carol Danvers in Marvel's new "Captain Marvel" movie.

Marvel has confirmed what most fans have been asking for during this year's San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday.

Larson has cemented the confirmation via Twitter on the same day, with the actress posting a picture of herself donning a black Marvel baseball cap and urging her followers to "call her Captain Marvel."

Larson has always been the frontrunner for the Captain Marvel role, according to Variety. A source told them that Larson is the studio's first choice towards playing the part.

The Oscar-winning star was also lauded for her excellent portrayal as Joy "Ma" Newsome in 2015 indie film "Room," based on a book of the same name.

The actress even got a seal of approval from Captain America himself, actor Chris Evans. Evans has worked with Larson in "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World" in 2009.

"I just heard about that," Evans said when asked about it during a Wizard World panel last month. "I really hope that happens. I love Brie Larson. I cannot say enough about Brie Larson. I think she is phenomenal, and I really hope that happens."

Captain Marvel, also known as Carol Danvers, is an air force pilot who was granted super strength, energy projection and flight after an accident caused her DNA to be fused with that of an alien Kree race.

"Captain Marvel" will be part of Marvel's Phase Three, according to Entertainment Weekly. The other movies included are "Doctor Strange" on Nov. 4, 2016, "Spider-Man: Homecoming" on July 7, 2017 and "Black Panther" on Feb. 16, 2018.

No director is named yet, but the screenplay will be written by Meg LeFauve ("Inside Out") and Nicole Perlman ("Guardians of the Galaxy") and produced by Kevin Feige.

"Captain Marvel" is slated for a Mar. 8, 2019 release date.
