Amidst rumors that Apple has axed the launch of the next Air series tablet, it is reported that the iPad Air 3 device might be released in few months' time.

The Bit Bag reported the speculations that the company has set an October release date for the iPad Air 3. The previous installment of the tablet, iPad Air 2, was released in October 2014, which has paved the way for the rumors that the new device will be released in the said month.

Furthermore, it is reported that Apple has currently placed the iPad Air 2 units on sale for a limited time. These discounts being offered have hinted that the company is getting ready for the iPad Air 3 launch in the month of October.

Apart from the release date rumors, there are reports that the iPad Air 3 will be the last product of the Air series, as Apple is planning to focus on the device's successor, the iPad Pro line.

As far as the specs are concerned, there are rumors that the iPad Air 3 will be slimmer than its predecessor with 6.1mm thickness. PC Advisor reported that the new tablet will have a stronger aluminum chassis along with a 9.7-inch display with 2048x1536 pixel resolution.

The device will reportedly sport the upcoming A10 chipset, which will be a huge upgrade to the iPad Air tab. Game N Guide reported that the iPad Air 3 will be equipped with an Apple Pencil and a Smart Connector port, which can be connected to any Apple Smart Keyboard.

In addition, the tablet is expected to be made available in the same Gold, Silver and Space Grey color options along with the likely addition of a Rose Gold model. The iPad Air 3 is rumored to be priced at $500.
