The latest NBA trade rumors hinted that the Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook might not choose to join the Los Angeles Lakers.
HOF Magazine reported that the possible trade between the Lakers and the Thunder will include the exchange of players like D'Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr., and Brandon Ingram. Reports stated that even though the Los Angeles Lakers have high chances of acquiring Westbrook, the 27-year-old player is expected to leave the Oklahoma City only when he has a strong roster in the destination team.
However, if all the star players were given up just to acquire him, then it will create a dubious situation for Westbrook. This has paved way for the rumors that Westbrook might not think of a trade with the Los Angeles Lakers in the upcoming NBA season.
On the contrary, the trade rumors hinted that Westbrook might opt to join the Lakers this year as they have other promising players like Clarkson and Randle, even if D'Angelo and Ingram are traded off to the Thunder. NESN reported that the OKC's point guard might also opt to go out of the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent for the year 2017-18.
Meanwhile, The Bit Bag reported that Russell will not leave the Oklahoma City Thunder as he is currently determined for the new challenge in front of him with a Kevin Durant-less team. Reports claimed that he wants to support his team by winning more number of matches with talented players including Victor Oladipo, Steven Adams, and Enes Kanter after losing Durant to the Golden State Warriors.
It is also rumored that the OKC Thunder might bring in other players like Rudy Gay or Harrison Barnes in order to support Russell Westbrook, and thus keep up the winning spirit.
The other teams in line apart from the Los Angeles Lakers, who are interested in acquiring Westbrook are the Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, and Sacramento Kings.
