While all of these devices are from Apple, a number of consumers are still unsure which among the iPad Pro 9.7, iPad Mini 4, and iPad Air 2 is the best deal.

Unless you are willing to buy all three and use them at the same time, reviews are definitely helpful in finding out which can be your best option.

Let us then look closely into the specs and features of these three portable devices from the American tech giant.

Release Date

If you're concerned about the release date of the Apple iPad Pro 9.7, iPad Mini 4, and iPad Air 2, it can be noted that the last one mentioned is the oldest.

The iPad Air 2 was made available in October 2014, while the iPad Pro 9.7 was released in March 2016 and iPad Mini 4 in September 2015.

Display

In terms of display, both the iPad Pro and iPad Air have a screen size of 9.7 inches, while the iPad Mini 4 has a smaller screen size of 7.9 inches. All of them have a LED-backlit IPS LCD with capacitive touchscreen providing 16M colors.

Amidst the fact that all the three models have Scratch-resistant glass and oleophobic coating display, only the iPad Pro 9.7 has the true tone display.

Memory

Among the iPad Pro 9.7, iPad Mini 4, and iPad Air 2, the first one offers the highest available internal memory capacity at 256GB, since the other two's highest internal memory is only pegged at 128GB.

Camera

When it comes to primary camera, the iPad Pro 9.7 offers the best specs with 12 MP, f/2.2, 29mm, phase detection autofocus and dual-LED (dual tone) flash.

The iPad Mini 4 only has 8 MP, f/2.4, 32mm, autofocus, while the iPad Air 2 has 8 MP, f/2.4, 31mm, autofocus.

Battery

In terms of battery life, the three models all come with a non-removable Li-Ion battery that can last upto 10 hours when running multimedia.

Price

The iPad Pro 9.7 sells for £499 for its 32GB model, £610 for 128GB and £739 for 256GB (add £100 on for the cellular model) while the iPad Air 2 costs £349 for 16GB and £429 for 64GB (add £100 on for the cellular model).

While it appears that the former costs more, Know Your Mobile pointed out that it must not be the deciding factor because its features must be the considered first.

If you are not into creating videos and what you only require is a device where you can browse the web, send emails and play some games, then the iPad Air 2 will suffice.

If you are going to compare the iPad Air 2 with the iPad Mini 4, Tab Times noted they "are finding less need for the iPad Air 2 as the iPad mini 4 satisfies our Apple tablet needs."

Conclusion

If you want your tablet to be more than just doing the usual functions (browsing, emailing), ditch the iPad Mini 4 and iPad Air 2, go for the pro device - the Apple iPad Pro 9.7.
