Apple insiders say that Steve Jobs gets angry every time there is a discussion about Android. But Google CEO Larry Page believes that Steve Job's anti-Android rants were all for show to inspire his employees into developing better products than Google folks.

In an interview with Bloomberg Business Week on April 3, Google CEO Larry Page said that the former Apple CEO never hated Android. According to Page, Steve Jobs could have pretended to hate Android to rally his troops for a war against Android, as both companies are competing to design the best mobile platform. It looks like Steve Jobs believed in a simple theory that when there is a competition, employees work harder.

"I think the Android differences were actually for show. I had a relationship with Steve. I wouldn't say I spent a lot of time with him over the years, but I saw him periodically. Curiously enough, actually, he requested that meeting. He sent me an e-mail and said: "Hey, you want to get together and chat?" I said, "Sure, I'll come over." And we had a very nice talk. We always did when we had a discussion generally." said Larry Page.

"I think that (show) served their interests. For a lot of companies, it's useful for them to feel like they have an obvious competitor and to rally around that. I personally believe that it's better to shoot higher. You don't want to be looking at your competitors. You want to be looking at what's possible and how to make the world better," he added.

But as much as we know Steve Jobs, he was a man of actions rather than words. Apple stopped sending special media event invitation to Gizmodo after the Web site leaked data about iPhone 4 before its release. He also never spoke to John Sculley - former Apple CEO (also former Pepsi CEO), after he was forced to leave Apple Inc. Steve Jobs is well known for his short temper as much as for his innovative skills. On his death bed, Steve Jobs reportedly wished to see Android getting ruined. But Google CEO says that this all was for a show.

Larry Page was also asked about the much-rumored Google branded Nexus tablet in the interview. But, the Google CEO acted smart, saying that he cannot comment on rumors.
