Graphic designer Enrico Penello has come up with a rocking concept for Apple's iPod Nano Touch. The extended and smarter version Penello envisioned includes awesome features for the iPod, such as Wi-Fi, a front-facing camera powerful enough for FaceTime calls, weather status, Nike+ exercise results recording, as well as a bunch of classic apps such as music, radio, time, images and podcasts.

"This concept shows a bigger clip on the back side, a lower black part containing the Wi-Fi antenna, central home button, side volume buttons and on/off top button, making this device really close to our everyday iPhone," explains the designer.

Forget the iPod Nano, this Should Be a TV Remote

While this particular iPod Nano concept seems interesting, many believe it would be better suited as an Apple TV remote. "Do we really need to see the Apple TV UI on the screen, or could we jump through menus, line up tracks, and check out the weather directly from the remote white Apple TV continues streaming Netflix?" writes Macgasm's Joshua Schnell. "Personally, I think I'd prefer being able to hop around the menus without ever having to see them on the screen. Uninterrupted menu navigation could be pretty huge."

Penello's concept envisions an entirely different direction for the iPod, combining the height of one model and the touchscreen of another, resulting in yet another iPhone-like device. Developers would have to put in an incredible amount of work to create apps for it, and besides, Apple would have to release a rather odd-looking iPod.

What About the Price?

The concept for this iPod Nano Touch might indeed work better as an Apple TV remote, and it would be something consumers really want and need. On the other hand, the manufacture price for such a remote would likely be an ungodly match with the $99 Apple TV.
