Latest NBA trade rumors revolving around Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook teased that the Los Angeles Lakers might be the team for him. Reports claimed that the Lakers are confident to trade in Russell as a free agent.

According to ESPN's Chris Brossard, the Los Angeles Lakers are eyeing Thunder's star player by forming a strong player lineup in the upcoming NBA season.

"I was talking to some people yesterday, about possible trades they might do and I was told they think they can sign him as a free agent," said Chris, as reported by Silver Screen & Roll. "With the addition of key veterans and a batch of talented young players, the Los Angeles Lakers are hoping that it is enough to sway Westbrook to their team."

According to the trade rumors, the Lakers are confident that with Jordan Clarkson and D'Angelo Russell in their team, they will be successful to lure in Westbrook next season. Fox Sports stated that the Los Angeles team managers are currently hoping that the 27-year-old player should not renew his contract with the Oklahoma Coty Thunder next summer, as it will result in their loss.

On the contrary, The Bit Bag reported that the Thunder are thinking of ways on how to make up for their loss of Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors. Reports claimed that they are planning to trade Westbrook for the Lakers' young players such as Clarkson, Russell, Julius Randle, or Larry Nance. It is reported that the trade will provide OKC a chance to rebuild their team from scratch.

Moreover, the latest NBA trade rumors have teased that OKC Thunder might even think of trading Russell to Sacramento Kings in exchange for Rudy Gay. According to News9 Brett Coppenbarger, Gay is an all-star player, who will provide Thunder with much-needed small forward position and top scores in the next season.

"Gay may not qualify as a star, but he's a proven commodity that comes at a reasonable price," said Brett, as reported by Sports Rageous. "And there's value in the fact OKC wouldn't have to commit for the long haul."
