The Future Trunks saga is heating up with the first battle between Goku and Goku Black in the previous episode of "Dragon Ball Super."
In the previous episode, Goku squares off against Goku Black, and both are remarkably evenly matched, according to Attack of the Fanboy. Goku only went up to Super Saiyan 2, to the annoyance of Future Trunks, who knows he can do more.
Goku did not realize that Goku Black gets stronger the longer the fight gets, but finally gets the upper hand with a kick to the mid section. The fight was abruptly ended when Goku Black noticed the Time Machine and manages to destroy it before being teleported back to his own timeline.
With the Time Machine out of commission, Bulma revealed that she has in her possession another Time Machine, which she has obtained from Cell.
The episode ended with Trunks finding out that Future Mai is still alive.
The Jump Magazine preview for "Dragon Ball Super Episode 51: Feelings That Transcend Time: Trunks and Mai" is translated by Twitter user Herms98 as follows:
"How Trunks and Mai first met! Goku, Bulma and the gang prepare to head to the future. As they do, Trunks tells them about how he met Mai in the future, and his battles against Goku Black."
As the preview implies that after the action-packed episode 50, episode 51 will be a flashback moment for Future Trunks, so expect a pretty laidback episode.
Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki has said in a statement that Mai will be playing a vital role in the Future Trunks Arc.
"The key visual is pretty mysterious, but I will give one spoiler and say that the person next to adult Trunks there is Mai," Nozaki said.
"During this nonstop series of desperate situations, with Goku and Vegeta forced into tough fights, expect to see Mai play a surprisingly major role together with Future Trunks," the TV producer added.
Will we be seeing Future Mai in action in the next episodes? Find out when "Dragon Ball Super" episode 51 airs on July 10.
