Amidst rumors that Apple will scrap the MacBook Air series, the recent price reduction in the previous 13-inch model has hinted a possible release date of a new version in 2016.
The Next Web reported that MacBook Air 2016 device will probably be launched in September, along with Apple iPhone 7. However, no official statement has been given by the company representatives yet.
Apart from the release date rumors, few reports claimed that the much-awaited MacBook Air 2016 will feature a 5K resolution display. Mac World reported that the new display technology would sport 5120x2880 pixel resolution. Also, the next-gen MacBook would support wireless charging functionality in the latest version.
Moreover, the Internet is also trending with MacBook Air 2016 probable specs. 9 to 5 Mac reported that the new laptop will be powered by AM Polaris 11 GPU for amplified power efficiency support. The device is also expected to feature a 15-inch screen and Touch ID fingerprint scanner with an OLED touch bar.
The upcoming laptop is expected to feature the recently launched MacOS Sierra. The new operating system will also provide some improvements on Apple Pay integration services. Tech Frag reported that new MacBook Air 2016 would sport a slimmer and thinner design. It would also have USB Type-C ports and Thunderbolt 3.0 for faster data transfer.
In addition to all the rumored specs, MacBook Air 2016 will also carry Siri, which was initially available only for iPhones. The updated version of the personal digital assistant would help the Apple device users to have single sign-on for Apple TV. Also, Siri would help users to open a file or documents on the desktops with voice commands and create reminders.
There is no confirmed news on the possible pricing of the upcoming MacBook Air 2016 device. There are rumors that the new laptop will be launched for $1499.
