The new iPad has some serious overheating problems and it is not selling like its predecessors and possibly could be crushed under rising competition from Android tablet. But, we do not think the new iPad will be beaten anytime soon, at least not now after it achieved top ratings from Consumer Report.
The new iPad caught a lot of spotlight, not just for its stunning resolution or quad-core graphics or 4G LTE compatibility, but also for some bad reasons. The new iPad hits the temperature of 116 degree Fahrenheit while playing graphics-intensive games. The marvelous high resolution Retina display of the new iPad is also plagued by yellowish hue which, in many cases, has spread across the entire screen. Third party smart covers of iPad 2 also no longer work on the new iPad. Reportedly some Apple-made iPad 2 smart covers are also incompatible with the new iPad.
But these problems have failed to cool down the craze for Apple's third generation iPad. Reportedly, 3 million new iPad units were sold within three days of its release, which is an impressive figure. In comparison, Apple reported sold 4 million iPhone 4S units in first three days of release.
Even though the new iPad is 13 degree hotter than iPad 2, but still it works under its operating temperature range specified by Apple. And it packs up a bigger battery that can hold the juice for same time as its predecessors used to. There could be a little yellowish tint on the screen for some users' but we cannot neglect the fact that the new iPad boasts of a Retina display with a resolution of 2048 X 1536 pixels. Such a high resolution does not exist on any HDTV or tablet.
Also, the new iPad is quite a great deal though it does not pack up the rumored quad-core A6 processor chip. It is still unmatched in performance with its dual-core A5X processor chip, compared to any other dual-core powered tablet.
The guys over at Consumer Report were not fans of Apple iPhone 4 because of the 'antennagate' controversy, but this time they have been bowled over by Apple's new iOS device.
