The latest update on the wireless technology standard, Bluetooth 5, suggests that it will provide new enhanced technology for navigational services in the smartphone. There are reports that the Bluetooth 5 will also provide support for long-range connectivity option with 4 megabits per second speed.

PC-Tablet reported that the director of the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, Mark Powell, recently revealed that the Bluetooth's latest version will be much more enhanced and useful as compared to its earlier versions.

According to Mark, the latest Bluetooth 5 will increase the speed of low energy Bluetooth transmissions by four times. The director said that the standard will also provide long-range connectivity up to 200 m with the help of its latest upcoming version, reported GMS Arena.

Besides, it is reported that with the Bluetooth 5 long-range connectivity option, GPS beacons would be able to communicate with various supported devices. This function is expected to provide the geographic positioning function to the Bluetooth 5 users without the use of the Internet.

Further, Powell commented that the Bluetooth 5 will be made compatible with different smartphones, in order to easily adopt the changing norms and thus, provide location-based services to users from different countries, reported The Register.

Apart from the details about the upcoming Bluetooth 5, the director also said that the SIG Company has always worked towards the development of the wireless standard since its last release almost six years back. Mark also mentioned that in the past six months the company has launched the Specification Workspace, which enables certain users to view the status of specification projects.

The Bluetooth 5 is reported to be revealed in a launch event at London on June 16. Besides, the company also has plans to organize many events in major cities around the world to display their products, between June 9 and October 14.
